Before I get to the post, let’s talk a little more about last night’s dinner and today’s kickstart of the new healthy eating plan:

Yes, we had fish sticks and tots last night. It was awful. Literally, I thought it tasted like crap. There was no fish in my sticks (it tasted like I was just eating breading), and the tots ended up tasting like fish stick potatoes. Yum… not. I had some green beans with it, but TPO decided to forego vegetation on his plate. His perogative, as it will be the last meal I cook for him that will be sans vegetables.

This morning I had oatmeal, and I’ll be having some low-cal minestrone for lunch. Dinner will be some boneless/skinless chicken breast with a side salad and mashed cauliflower.

I want to stress here that I’m not exactly doing a “low carb” diet. It may seem like I am, but the goal here is not to live “low carb” – my goal is to get empty starches out of my life. Things like breaded foods, fried foods, and bleached white refined foods. Potatoes can be good for you – I will grant that. However, I already know going into this that potatoes are a trigger for me (as is popcorn). I WILL overeat mashed potatoes if I have the opportunity, and even by lightening the recipe, overeating is horrible. So, for now, I’m removing the opportunities. I’m not as in love with cauliflower as I am with potatoes. I won’t feel like I’m missing something by making them with chicken stock instead of cream and butter. I will notice it in potatoes, and I’m afraid that I’ll trigger myself to eat crap (or tempt myself unnecessarily to eat crap).

Potatoes, are out… but only until I am strong enough to have a little potato without wanting to eat a lot.

Anyway, I seriously digressed there. The point of this was to post a video. So, without further ado, theFrog’s video post #2 is below the fold:

This is to respond to Grape in the comment below a bit about the nutrition/exercise aspect of this blog.

To start with, I’m not all the way there yet. That’s a big “yet” because things are starting full-on tomorrow. Technically, I’ve changed my eating habits after a night of splurging on New Year’s Eve. However, I didn’t really take TPO into consideration with all this hullabaloo, so after a whole day of my newly developing eating habits, I’ve allowed him to choose what we’re having for dinner tonight, with the express understanding that from here on out, he gets very little say in what goes on the table.

Surprisingly, he’s ok with that arrangement (he doesn’t really have much of a choice, since going against it would mean that he is going to have to cook dinner for himself – something that is just not going to happen any time soon). And, of course, he picked a real “winner” for his Last Meal. In fact, I don’t think I could come up with a less healthy meal… including “deep fried butter patties in mayonaise sauce.”

For dinner tonight, we’re having Beer Battered Fish Sticks and Tater Tots with ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Not an ounce of green anywhere near the plate. I almost insisted that he add some sort of veggie to his dinner, but decided that since this is HIS last dinner, I might as well let him eat whatever he wants and not force anything on him. Though, I’ll probably be adding a salad for myself. And maybe not so much tots.

Tomorrow is my first official full day of no splurging. Lots of water, veggies, lean meats and no un-whole grains (I don’t know what they’re called, but basically any grains or starches in my life will now have to be whole). I have a video post planned for tomorrow or the next day (depending on how quickly I can get it all set up, edited and submitted for approval) – just something simple, but hopefully a vast improvement from the first one.

In this video, I’m a total dork – my hair’s a mess and I just now realized that there was one curl sticking straight up in the air. Awesomesauce. Also, I should really look into some lipstick or something, I look all washed out.

For future videos, I’ll get some better lighting (something that I probably should have known to do in the first place – go me!) and actually have a little bit of a plan on what I’m going to talk about so that I’m not just rambling like a fool.

Oh, and before anyone says anything: Yes, I know MS Movie Maker is, like, the WORST thing you could use to edit a video. But it’s already on my computer and it’s free; two incredibly important things to consider. I’d love a copy of Adobe Premiere or some other uber video editing software suite, but with current monetary and (self-imposed) hacker constraints, that’s just not happening any time soon.

Anyway, with the video more or less nailed, I’m going to try my hand at posting a vid here sometime this week. I’m not sure what the subject will be yet, but I have a few ideas to try out. We’ll see how that goes.

To start, I’ve posted what my resolutions are – they’re on their own page that you can easily see at the top of the page. Go check em out if you don’t know what they are yet.

What I haven’t really posted is how I’m going to go about getting these things done or what things are like NOW that I require actual resolutions to accomplish everything. Well, I am sort of (inwardly cringing) considering posting a vlog about that and show exactly what I’m up against. We’ll see how brave I am over the next week or so (also, we’ll see how video-edity skilled I am… that is one hurdle no amount of braveness can overcome).

To give the accounting here and now of how much I weigh, what my debt is and how messy my house is, here goes:

• I am FAAAAAAATTTTTTT!!!!!! Still nervous to post a number, but let’s say that I weigh over 275lbs. Eeeps.
• My house is a cluttery mess. You’re just going to have to trust me on this, because I don’t have any video to prove it. I could take pictures, but that’s not quite as revealing as vid.
• TPO and I currently have about $8500 in credit card debt. I’m not 100% sure about the exact amount, but once I get this month’s statement, I’ll be able to give a better accounting.

As the week progresses, I’ll post my plans on how I’m going to accomplish these things (and, of course, give reports on this week’s progress). For now, Happy 2008!!! And good luck with your own goals for this year.
